The video and article below will walk you through how to verify your site with Google. The article also includes instructions on verification through Pinterest and Bing.
What is Site Verification?
Some services ask that you verify ownership of your site before you can access all of their tools. Site verification won't affect your sites performance in most search engines.
How to get your verification code on Google
Log in to the service you want to verify and navigate to the verification section. The default option suggested will likely be to add the HTML file, but you can select other options. Find the alternative options and select HTML tag. Then, copy the alphanumeric code in the content section of the tag.
You'll probably only be able to select the whole HTML tag. In that case, copy it, paste it in a browser or blank text document and then copy the code in between the inverted commas after content=.
Log in to your Placester account and go to Site Settings > Site Verification (if you're using the dropdown menu, you may need to scroll down to find it).
Enter your verification codes to the panel. Once you've added the ones you want, click Save. Go back to the service you're verifying and click the Verify button on that page.
The service you're verifying should let you know whether or not the verification was successful.
How to get your verification code on Pinterest
To obtain your Pinterest code you will need to log into your account and click on the profile button in the upper right hand corner.
You will then want to click on the lug nut/gear icon to access your settings.
Once you have done this, proceed to the Profile section. In order to obtain the code you need, you will need to click on confirm website next to your web address.
You can then copy the code provided by Pinterest, and add it to your Placester site. Like with Google, you may only be able to select the whole HTML tag. In that case, copy it, paste it in a browser or blank text document and then copy the code in between the inverted commas after content=.
How to get your site verification on Bing
Bing has a very simple interface to find your code. As with Google, you will first need to sign up for Bing webmaster tools. Once you have created your Microsoft account or logged in if you already have an existing
account, you will be prompted to add you site to the webmaster platform.
Important note: If you have not completed your Microsoft profile you will be prompted to do so, you will not be able to proceed if the profile is not complete. Once you have added your site address you will be asked if you want to submit a site map, this is an optional step. You then will need to click on the add button once more.
Now needed verification ID will automatically appear. Like with Google, you may only be able to select the whole HTML tag. In that case, copy it, paste it in a browser or blank text document and then copy the code in between the inverted commas after content=.
You can then post this ID on placester.
