How To Get Started with AI Editor

 

Here's a quick step-by-step guide that walks you through the process of generating changes and publishing your updates using Placester’s AI Editor.

Step 1: Accessing AI Editor

To get started, log in to your Placester account and click ‘Edit with AI’ to open your site in the AI Editor.

 

Step 2: Entering your first prompt

You'll see a preview of your website on the left and the AI Editor chat panel on the right. Choose one of the suggested prompts or enter your own instructions in the text field.

 

Step 3: Reviewing the proposed plan

The AI will analyze your request and generate a plan outlining the changes it recommends.

For smaller updates, you may only see one or a few suggested changes. For larger or site-wide requests, AI Editor will generate a more comprehensive plan.

Review the suggestions. Expand individual items to see more details. Each suggestion includes a checkbox, allowing you to select or deselect specific changes before applying them.

Happy with the plan AI drafted for you? Click Apply selected changes and see them on your edited website. 

Step 4: Previewing changes on your website

Once you apply the selected changes, AI Editor will update the website preview on the left side of the screen. This allows you to see how the changes will appear on your pages before publishing them.

At this stage, the changes are only visible to you and have not yet been published. Review the updated content and make sure it meets your expectations before proceeding.

Step 5: Publishing updates

 

When everything looks right, click Publish to push your changes live.

 

FAQs

Why didn't AI make the change I expected?

AI Editor works best when given clear and specific instructions. If the results aren't what you expected, try providing more detail about the page, audience or outcome you'd like to achieve.

Can I undo changes?

Changes are not published automatically. You can review generated updates before publishing and discard them if they don't meet your expectations.

Can I ask AI to make multiple changes at once?

Can AI Editor create new pages?

Yes. AI Editor can create new pages based on your instructions, including area pages, blog posts, specific landing pages and more.

What makes a good prompt?

Effective prompts are specific and provide context. Mention what you'd like to change, where the change should be made and what outcome you'd like to achieve.

For example, instead of saying "Improve my homepage", try "Rewrite my homepage for first-time homebuyers and emphasize my local expertise in the Boston market."

Can I edit AI-generated content manually?

Yes. You can continue editing your website using AI Editor or switch to Codeless to make manual adjustments.

Does AI Editor publish changes automatically?

No. You must review the proposed plan and preview the changes on your website before publishing them. Changes only become visible on your live website after you click Publish.
