How to Clear Your Cache [Classic]

This article will outline some of the options available for clearing your browser's cache.

What is Caching?

Caching is designed to improve your browsing experience by saving copies or images of websites you visit frequently so they load faster each time you return.

Why Do I Need to Clear My Cache?

If you've just recently mapped a domain to your Placester site and you're having trouble loading it, it's likely because your browser or internet connection is storing a cached copy of the old website previously found at that URL address.

The first step you should take to troubleshoot this is to try loading the site on another browser or computer. Then if you're still unable to view your new site, we recommend the following options for clearing your cache:

Browser Caching

1. Try typing www.[yourdomain].com/?clear_cache=true into your address bar and then press enter:

2. If that doesn't work, check out these browser-specific guides for clearing your cache: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache

Wi-Fi Caching

Sometimes the internet connection you're using can cache as well, for instance if you're at work and have certain settings for security reasons. To verify whether this is the case, try loading your site on a mobile phone that is using data rather than being connected to Wi-Fi and see if you have more success.

If your site is being cached at the ISP level, it could take up to 24 hours for the cached version of the site to update. If you're still having trouble loading the site after several hours, we recommend contacting your internet service provider for further assistance.
