Creating a coming soon page

Jennifer Updated by Jennifer

This article will walk you through how to create a page to your website to showcase listings that will be hitting the market soon.

There are a few different workarounds to create a coming soon page. Our IDX integration doesn't show listings that are not yet active, so we recommend alternative ways to create pages of these listings. *Note this work around will also work for recent sales and open houses*

  1. Regular Pages
  2. Using a Blog Index page

How to create using Pages:

You can also create a page with the default page template. You can do this by clicking Create at the top toolbar and click Page. You can also create pages by going to Pages > Click + to create a new page. Then give the page a default page template and add the relevant information there.

Here is a support article that describes creating pages: [Video] Creating a Page

When creating the page with your coming soon listings there are two layout options we would recommend.

Layout option 1

Create your page following the instructions on how to create a page above. Once you have selected the page template and given your page a title you will move onto the page content section.

In the page content section you will click on the image icon to upload your first photo. *note you can add multiple images for each coming soon listing if you would like to.

Once you’ve uploaded an image(s) for your listing underneath you’ll write a brief description of the listing.

You’ll repeat this process uploading another image(s) for your next listing below the description of the listing above it and so on.

Layout option 2

Create your page following the instructions on how to create a page above. Once you have selected the page template and given your page a title you will move onto the page content section.

In the page content section you will first click on the create a table icon.

Once you have clicked on the create a table icon you’ll need to select how many colums you would like to have on your table. For this example I am selecting two.

After creating the table you are able to add or remove columns by using the new table options that appear.

  1. Icon 1 allows you to insert a column above the last column in your table.
  2. Icon 2 allows you to insert a column below the last column in your table.
  3. Icon 3 allows you to insert an additional column to the left of your original columns.
  4. Icon 4 allows you to insert an additional column to the right of your original columns.
  5. Icon 5 allows you to delete a row of columns where your cursor is located horizontally.
  6. Icon 6 allows you to delete a row of columns where your cursor is located vertically.

Now you can start adding your coming soon listings to these columns you have created. Place your cursor in the first column and click on the upload image icon.

Once you’ve uploaded an image you’ll want to add a description for the listing in the second column like in the image shown below.

You’ll repeat these steps in additional columns as your add your additional coming soon listings to the page.

How to create using the Blog Page Index:

You can also create blog posts that will describe a “coming soon” listing. These blog posts will be included with all your other blogs, meaning you cannot have two different blogs/blog templates on one website at this time. If your theme has blogs on the featured listing page, then your most recent blog posts will be displayed there (so if you choose this method, your coming soon listings will appear there too - a great way to highlight them straight away). To create a new blog post, go to Edit Site > Blog Posts and click the + (plus) button. You'll also need to make sure you create a page with a blog index template so all the blog posts will appear on the blog page.
