Creating Area Pages and an Areas Index

An area page tells visitors about one neighborhood, town or region. It can show listings, a map and market numbers for the area. An areas index page lists your area pages. Your Site Edit changes go into a draft. Visitors see them after you publish.

Create an area page or an areas index

  1. Select Dashboard in the top menu.
  2. On the site card, select EDIT SITE. Site Edit opens with your homepage.
  3. Select Add New in the top bar. The Add New panel opens on the Pages tab.
  4. To put the new page in your menu, select Add to header menu.

  1. Add to header menu: Also puts the new page in the menu at the top of your site.
  2. Areas Index: Creates a page that lists your area pages.
  3. Area: Creates a page about one area.

Select Area or Areas Index to create the page. For more about new pages, see Creating a New Page.

Open an area page

  1. Select Pages in the top bar.
  2. Select Areas in the filter row.

  1. Areas: Shows only the area pages.
  2. Area page: An area page. Select it to show it in the preview and open the Edit Area panel.

Edit an area page

The Edit Area panel has the tabs General, Categories, Design, Content, Listings, Modules and Widgets.

  1. Status: Published, Draft, Private or Scheduled.
  2. Set as featured: Marks the area as featured.
  3. Listings: The listings, map and Market Data of the area page.

The General tab also has Publish date, Accessible for logged in users only, SEO SETTINGS and Password protect.

The Categories tab puts the area in one or more categories.

  1. Search categories: Finds a category by name.
  2. Categories list: Select a box to put the area in that category.

The Content tab has Area slider. Select Pick image from Media Library to choose the images of the slider.

Show listings and Market Data

Open the Listings tab.

  1. Enable area listings: Shows listings on the area page.
  2. Enable map for this area: Shows a map of the area.
  3. Filter criteria: Filtered shows the listings that match your criteria. Selective shows only the listings you pick.
  4. Market Data: Shows the market numbers of the area, such as the average list price.

With Market Data on, the area page shows numbers such as Average List Price, Average Price per Sqft, Number of Active Listings, New Listings (last 30 days) and Average Year Build.

The Listings tab also has:

  • Enable custom map center: Lets you choose the center of the map.
  • Section title: The heading above the listings, for example "Explore Listings".
  • Clear criteria: Removes all of the filter criteria.
  • Enable search engine for this area: Adds a search to the area page.
  • Button Name, Color and Style: The look of the button on the listings section.

Set up an areas index page

  1. Select Pages in the top bar.
  2. Find your areas index page. Its label is AREAS INDEX PAGE.
  3. Select Page settings (the gear) next to the page. The settings open on the General tab.

  1. Categories: Opens the Categories tab of the page settings.
  2. Number of areas per page: How many areas show on one page of the list.
  3. Sort options: The order of the areas on the page.
  4. Enable custom order: Lets you put the areas in your own order.

The Sort options are Alphabetical - Title, Publish date and Random. The General tab also has Set this page as main, which makes the page the main areas page of your site.

Show areas on any page

The Featured Areas module shows your areas in a section of a page.

  1. Open the page in the preview.
  2. Select Add New, then select Module. The Add module panel opens.
  3. Select Featured Areas. The panel shows its five layouts.

  1. One: A layout of the module. Select a layout to add the module to the page.
  2. Back: Goes back to the list of module types.

Select a layout. Site Edit adds the module to the page. For more about modules, see Working with Modules.

Publish your changes

Each change goes into your draft. The draft bar at the bottom of Site Edit shows Unpublished changes with Discard and Publish. Close the open panel, then select Publish to show your changes to visitors, or Discard to undo all of the draft.
