What is AI Editor?

AI Editor is Placester’s AI-powered website editing tool. It lets you update your website using natural language prompts, directly edit elements on the page or combine both approaches in one workspace.

Instead of making every change manually, you can describe what you want your website to do, look like or say. AI Editor analyzes your request, identifies the relevant pages and content and recommends changes based on your instructions and the information already available on your website.

You can use AI Editor to:

  • Create new pages and content
  • Update and improve existing content
  • Change images, videos and design elements
  • Make quick updates to individual elements
  • Apply broader changes across multiple pages
  • Adapt your website to a new market, audience or business focus

How to access AI Editor

To get started, select Edit Site from your Dashboard.

Once you open the editor, you can ask AI for help in two ways:

  • Select Ask AI from the top navigation to request broader page or website changes.
  • Select an element on the page and click the sparkle button to ask AI to update that specific element.

You can also select elements and edit them manually using the available point-and-click controls.

How AI Editor works

AI Editor follows a simple workflow that lets you create and update your website while reviewing the results before they are published.

1. Describe the change you’d like to make

Enter a prompt explaining what you want to update. You can use one of the suggested prompts or describe the change in your own words.

For example:

  • Rewrite my homepage for first-time homebuyers.
  • Create a neighborhood page for Back Bay, Boston.
  • Write a blog post explaining the homebuying process for first-time buyers.
  • Update my About page to emphasize my local expertise.
  • Replace the hero image on my homepage with a modern city skyline.
  • Create a new page about selling luxury homes in Miami.
  • Generate a short video introducing my real estate services.
  • Refresh my website branding with a more modern and professional style.

2. Answer any follow-up questions

AI Editor analyzes your request and creates a plan for the recommended changes. It may ask you follow-up questions to make sure the results match what you need. Depending on your request, it may ask you to select which changes you want AI to apply.

3. Review your changes

Once your changes are applied, review them directly on your website. You can continue working with AI or use point-and-click editing to make additional adjustments. 

The changes will not become visible to website visitors until you publish them.

4. Publish

Once you’re satisfied with the result, select Publish to make the changes live on your website.

AI Editor availability

The upgraded AI Website Editor was released in August 2026 and is available to new Placester customers who created an account after its release.

For existing customers, the upgrade is being introduced gradually. If you don’t see it yet, you can continue using the previous AI Editor and Codeless Customizer. Creating a new site in your account will give you access to the upgraded editor.

What Types of Content Can AI Editor Update?

AI Editor can update website copy, images, videos, blog posts, area pages, layouts, design elements and other website content.

The available options may depend on the page or element you are editing.

What Is the Difference Between AI and Point-and-Click Editing?

AI editing lets you describe the result you want using natural language. It can be particularly useful for creating content, making broader changes or updating several areas of your website.

Point-and-click editing gives you direct control over individual elements. You can select an element on the page and manually update its available settings.

Both methods are available inside the same editing workspace, so you can use whichever approach works best for each change.

How Can I Access the Codeless Customizer?

To open the previous Codeless Customizer, select More from the top navigation and then choose Legacy Customizer.

What Should I Know Before Publishing AI-Generated Content?

Clear and specific prompts generally produce better results. Include relevant information about the page, audience, market and outcome you want to achieve.

Review all suggested changes before publishing. AI-generated content should be treated as a starting point that you can refine and personalize, especially when describing your experience, local expertise and unique value proposition.
