Site Edit has one text editor for the text on your pages and in your blog posts. Its toolbar formats words, adds links, and inserts images, videos and tables. Your changes go into your draft. Visitors see them after you publish.

Open the text editor

  1. In Site Edit, open the page.
  2. Move the pointer over a text. A small toolbar appears above it.

  1. Text: A text on your page. Point at it to show its toolbar.
  2. Customize: Opens the text editor.

Select Customize. The text editor opens.

Format text

Select the words you want to change, then select a button on the toolbar.

  1. Bold: Makes the selected words bold. Next to it are Italic, Underline and Strikethrough.
  2. Bulleted list: Makes a list with bullets. The next button makes a numbered list.
  3. H2: Makes the line a heading. H1 is the largest. P makes it normal text again.
  4. Theme colors: Colors the selected words with a color of your site.
  5. Clear formatting: Removes the formatting from the selected words.
  6. Insert link: Makes the selected words a link.
  7. Insert image: Adds an image from your media library.
  8. Insert video: Adds a YouTube or Vimeo video.
  9. Insert table: Adds a table.

The editor in this picture is expanded. Select Expand to make the editor larger, and Collapse to make it small again. Select × to close the editor.

  1. Select the words for the link.
  2. Select Insert link. Your browser asks for the Link URL.
  3. Type the full web address, for example https://www.example.com, then select OK.

Add an image

  1. Put the cursor where you want the image.
  2. Select Insert image. Your media library opens.

  1. Upload Media: Uploads an image from your computer.
  2. Search for images: Finds an image in your library by name.
  3. Select image: Puts the selected image in your text.

To use a free stock photo, select Unsplash on the left. Select an image, then select Select image.

Add a video

  1. Put the cursor where you want the video.
  2. Select Insert video. Your browser asks for a YouTube or Vimeo link.
  3. Paste the link of the video, then select OK.

Add a table

  1. Put the cursor where you want the table.
  2. Select Insert table. A table with three rows and three columns appears.
  3. Type in the cells.

Edit the text of a blog post

  1. Open the post from Pages.
  2. Select the text of the post in the preview. A toolbar appears above the text.

  1. Content: The text of your blog post.
  2. Customize: Opens the text editor of the post.

Select Customize. The text editor of the post has the same toolbar, and two buttons at the bottom.

  1. Expand: Makes the editor larger.
  2. Cancel: Closes the editor without your changes.
  3. Save: Saves your changes to the draft.

The preview shows your changes after you select Save.

Add a button

Many modules have places for buttons. An empty place shows Click to add a button. Use a real button, not an image of a button.

  1. Move the pointer over Click to add a button. A toolbar appears.
  2. Select its Customize button. The button panel opens.

  1. First button label: The words on the button. Type them to show the button.
  2. First button color: The color of the button, from the colors of your site.
  3. First button style: Solid, Border or Clear.
  4. First button page/URL: The page or web address the button opens. Choose a page, or choose Custom URL and type the address.
  5. First button open in new tab: Opens the link in a new browser tab.

Each change goes into your draft. Select Publish on the draft bar to show it to visitors. See Publishing and Discarding Drafts.
