Troubleshooting Social Automation

If an expected post has not appeared, work through this checklist in order. Social Automation only publishes when the add-on, Meta connection, source content, ownership, and filters are all eligible.

1. Confirm the add-on is active

Open Plan & Billing → Product Add-ons and find Social Automation.

Social Automation active in Product Add-ons

  1. Confirm that the status is ACTIVE.

If the add-on is not active, open Content → Social and follow the purchase prompt.

2. Check Facebook and Instagram

Open Content → Social → Connect. The intended Facebook Page and linked Instagram account should show ready to publish.

A ready Facebook and Instagram connection

  1. Confirm the correct destinations and ready status.

If a connected destination looks out of date, open the three-dot menu.

Connection refresh and reconnect options

  1. Try Refresh Connection. If publishing is still unavailable while the account remains connected, choose Reconnect Facebook and approve all required access in Meta.

If the card says Connection expired and does not offer an action, contact Placester Support. The current Refresh Connection action is available only while already connected.

Also confirm that the Instagram account is still a Business or Creator account linked to the selected Facebook Page.

Connection errors can also identify the next step:

  • Popup blocked — allow popups for this site and try again. Allow the popup and select CONNECT again.
  • Facebook connect window was closed. Start the connection again and finish the Meta flow.
  • No Facebook Pages were found for this account. Confirm that the Facebook login has Page access.
  • The Facebook connect session expired. Please try again. Start CONNECT again; the authorization attempt timed out.

3. Check the MLS or IDX feed

Listing posts require a connected MLS or IDX feed. Confirm that the expected listing is present in Placester with current status and usable listing media.

If listings are missing or stale in Placester, Social Automation cannot create the corresponding listing post.

4. Confirm listing ownership

Automatic listing triggers apply to the listing, or seller's, agent.

The listing will not qualify when:

  • The account represents only the buyer.
  • The account is not the listing agent in the incoming listing data.
  • The property is co-listed.

5. Review listing filters

Open Content → Social → Settings → Listing filters.

Listing eligibility controls

  1. Check the matching section: New listings, Sold listings, or Active listings.

Confirm:

  • The property's type is selected.
  • Its price is within the minimum and maximum.
  • Residential listings meet the minimum bedroom and bathroom values.

Land and commercial listings match on price only. Only Residential is selected by default.

If you are uncertain which rule is excluding the listing, clear restrictive values temporarily and wait for the next eligible event or active-listing run.

6. Check the active-listing time

Still-on-market posts run as one daily batch. Under Active listings, check the Post time and Time zone.

Confirm that the selected time has passed in the selected time zone and that the listing reached an eligible day-on-market milestone: 7, 14, 21, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, or 90 days, then a monthly milestone through 365 days.

New and sold posts are triggered by eligible MLS events and do not wait for this active-listing time.

7. Check the blog source and publish status

For a missing blog post:

  1. Open Content → Social → Settings.
  2. Confirm the correct website under Blog Source.
  3. Confirm that the blog post is published on that website.

Content Automation is not required. A hand-written published blog post also qualifies. Social Automation can create an initial video and one follow-up 48–72 hours later for each eligible article. It publishes at most one blog-driven video per local day, so either video may wait when another blog video has already used that day's slot.

Selecting a Blog Source establishes its current newest published post as the starting point; older posts are not backfilled. If the selected source becomes inactive, detection pauses until you choose another active site.

8. Review the Social calendar

Open Content → Social → Calendar and inspect the expected date.

  • Processing: Meta is still processing the video. Reopen the day or post, or reload the calendar, to reconcile its status. A post still processing after 30 minutes is marked failed.
  • Published: Open the entry and use its link to view the Meta post.
  • Failed: Open the entry, correct the displayed connection or publishing problem, then select Retry.
  • Deleted: The post was removed through Placester.
  • Removed on Facebook or Removed on Instagram: The post was removed directly in Meta and the calendar detected that change during refresh.

Facebook and Instagram are separate destinations. One can publish while the other fails. Selecting Dismiss on a failed attempt removes it from the calendar; it does not create a Dismissed status entry.

9. Confirm what Social Automation does not do

Nothing is waiting in a manual approval queue: Social Automation does not have one. It also does not schedule individual posts for a selected future date. Automatic posts publish when their trigger and eligibility rules are met.

If the issue remains

Gather:

  • The Placester account email
  • The Facebook Page and Instagram account names
  • The listing address or blog post title
  • The expected trigger and approximate time
  • A screenshot of the calendar status or error

Share those details with Placester Support so the team can investigate the specific event.
