Choosing Content Automation Topics

Vanja Gjorgjiev Updated by Vanja Gjorgjiev

Topics tell Content Automation which kinds of articles to create. The setup wizard calls them Topics; after setup, Configuration calls the same choices Categories.

Before you begin: Content Automation must be active. Open ContentBlog.

Choose topics during setup

The wizard requires at least three topics.

Empty topic picker in Content Automation setup

  1. Select topic cards. The counter above the card grid shows how many you selected.
  2. Select CONTINUE after choosing at least three.

Three topics selected in Content Automation setup

  1. Selected cards have a blue outline and checked box; unselected cards remain white.
  2. CONTINUE is available after the minimum is met.

The wizard currently says you can change topics on Schedules. After setup, use Configuration instead.

Preview sample topics

Select SEE SAMPLE TOPICS IN YOUR LOCAL AREA on any card to preview article ideas for that category. Your Business Profile must be complete before Content Automation can generate the preview.

Previewing ideas does not select or save the category. During setup, select the cards you want and continue through the wizard. In Configuration, select your categories and then choose Save categories.

Change categories after setup

  1. Open ContentBlogConfiguration.
  2. Scroll to CATEGORIES.
  3. Select at least one category.
  4. Scroll below the category list and select Save categories.

Publishing modes and categories in Content Automation Configuration

  1. Publishing mode is separate from the category choices.
  2. CATEGORIES shows the selected count. Configuration requires at least one category, not the wizard's first-time minimum of three.

How topics are used

Each post uses one of your selected topics. Content Automation avoids immediately repeating the last topic, then chooses from the remaining selection.

Topics do not replace your Business Profile. Operating areas and specialties still shape the writing inside each topic.

Placester supplies the topic list and may update it over time. Use the choices currently shown in your account rather than an older printed list.
