Choosing a Page Type

Each new page on your website starts from a page type. The type gives the page its first layout and its special parts, such as a contact form or a list of your agents. You pick the type in the Add New panel of Site Edit.

Open the Add New panel

  1. Select Dashboard in the top menu.
  2. On the site card, select EDIT SITE. Site Edit opens with your homepage.
  3. Select Add New in the top bar. The Add New panel opens on the Pages tab.

The Add New panel on the Pages tab

  1. Pages: The page types you can add to your site.
  2. Lead Capture: Popups and banners that ask visitors for their details.
  3. Listings: Saved listing filters and your featured listings.
  4. Add to header menu: Puts a link to the new page in the menu at the top of your site.

The Module and Widget cards at the top of each tab add to the page you are viewing. They do not create a page. See Working with Modules and Working with Widgets.

Pick a page type

Select a card to create a page of that type. Site Edit creates the page in your draft at once and shows it in the preview. There is no form to fill in first. You then edit the page in place.

The page types at the end of the Pages tab

  1. Landing Page: A page built around a lead form.
  2. Property Landing Page: A page for one listing. The IDX tag means it uses your MLS listings.
  3. Home Valuation: A page that asks home owners for their address so you can send a value estimate.
  4. Default Page: A general page for any content.

All the page types on the Pages tab:

Card What the new page shows

Areas Index A list of the area pages on your site.

Home Valuation A picture, a title and a form that asks for the visitor's name, email and home address.
Default Page A general page with a title and text. Use it for any page that is not one of the types above.

The new page is in your draft only. Visitors see it after you publish. To make the page and keep it out of the menu, leave Add to header menu clear before you select the card.

What to put on your About page

The About page tells visitors who you are and why they can trust you. Many agents use two or three short parts:

  • Background: Your experience, your market and your results.
  • Your promise or approach: How you work with buyers and sellers.
  • About you: A few personal interests. A friendly tone helps visitors feel they know you.

For a brokerage, you can also show your agents on the page. See Showing Your Agents on Your Website.

What to put on your Contact page

The Contact page has a contact form already. Visitors fill it in, and you get the lead.

  • Make sure that your phone, email and office address are correct, so visitors can also reach you directly. See Updating Your Contact and Office Details.
  • Change the form headline and text to tell visitors what happens after they send it.
  • Add the page to your menu, so visitors can find it from every page.

The Lead Capture and Listings tabs

The other two tabs of the Add New panel do not create pages.

The Lead Capture tab

  1. Popup: Opens your popups, where you add or edit a popup form.
  2. Banner: Opens your banners, where you add or edit a strip of text at the top of your site.

See Creating a Lead Capture Popup and Adding a Custom Banner.

The Listings tab

  1. Filter: Opens Filters & Featured Listings, where you save a listing search to use on your site.

Can I change the type later?

No. Site Edit has no setting to change the type of a page after you create it. To use another type, create a new page of that type, copy your content to it, and then delete the old page. See Managing Your Pages.
