This article will explain how Placester's Natural Language Search (NLS) feature works.
Activating Natural Language Search
If you would like to use NLS instead of the drop-down search options, you'll need to take a few steps to activate Natural Language Search on your site.
First, log into the back end of your site and click on Edit Site under Quick Actions.
Then click on IDX integration. From this page turn on any IDX feed you would like to use.
Once you have selected your integrations click save.
After you do this, you need to click on Search Form in the Site Design section of your Site Settings menu.
Choose "Omnibox with Autosuggest" for both the home page and listings page search fields.
How it works on your site
Natural Language Search is the newest search feature available on Placester sites. This provides much more flexibility to the end user when searching for listings. This feature allows you to freely type what you are looking for into the search boxes on the home page and featured listings page, which in turn populates a search listings page with listings that fall within the criteria you searched by.
The search box also autosuggests search criteria based on what are you typing. In the example below, we're looking for a two bedroom home in Cambridge, MA. You'll see that a price range is suggested in the drop down box; users can click this or continue entering their own criteria to search by. You can also switch between For Sale and For Rent at the end of white text entry bar.
Search Results Page
Clicking Search takes the site user to the listings search page. Here, you'll see all the homes that match the search criteria used. At the right of the search box on the listings search page, you can select more filters and add/remove any filters you would like.
You can also change the sort criteria and direction. These settings appear below the filters and above the listings. You can sort by Price, Total Images, Beds, Baths and Year Built, and by ascending or descending order.
